Hello all,
Happy Fall!

It has been a busy month. Nicholas is doing so many new things developmentally and physically, they are too much to list.

Nicholas's surgery in August went very well. Well in surgery, the doctor cosmetically fixed his original PDA(heart surgery, ductus scar) so that it would look better as an adult. Come to find out, where the sutures tied, some of his skin pinched and tunneled and caused some major scar tissue on his underarm muscles. The doctor simply nipped and tucked a few areas, and now, belive it or not, he has more range of motion in his left arm. We assumed that nothing was wrong; however, after the surgery, he has really made some progress with his rotation and movement.

Nicholas also saw the othropedic doctor, and he suggested that Nicholas have some orthodics placed in his shoes. Nicholas has an extremely high arch which is causing problems with him walking on his tippy toes, so this will allow him to walk properly.

Speaking of walking, Nicholas walks with aid of parents and objects. He did learn to crawl...not only forward but crawl and creep while staying on his back. Now for the readers to understand this, Nicholas lays on his back and uses his arms and hikes his legs to a push pull motion and slides and glides along the floor. He is very quick as the therapists will atest.

Nicholas also had his annual eye exam, and all systems are functioning normal. We don't have to see the eye doctor for another 2 years. Yea!

Nicholas also had his annual developmental and physical exams two weeks ago. He is still behind but is making amazing speeding progress. Socially...absolutely no problems...he is throwing all the necessary temper tantrums and acting-out scenes that a normal 2 year old shows. He is also doing extremely well cognitively. He was solving puzzles/problems during his test. They even tried the nutshell game...placing a ball under cups and making him pick the proper cup. You certainly cannot fool him!!! He also received points for brushing his teeth and doing grooming type activities.

We are extremely pleased with all of his recent development strides. God has been so good to us, and Nicholas is really starting to show his future nature. He like Alex, loves to take things a part and learn how they work. Just ask Mom...how many items both Nick and Alex have taken a part lately. TOO MANY! Nick has also learned how to turn on the bath water in the bathroom. Hopefully, he won't flood the house like his father did a few years ago.

Nicholas recently stayed the weekend with his grandparents while Mom and Dad went to a wedding out of town. I think that the kitty cat caused more strife than Nicholas.

He eatting is improving daily. He loves yogurt and anything sour! He is still having trouble with textured clumps of food and hard solid items. Something still to work on.

Love to all,
Alex Terah and Nicholas
