Hi all !

Today is Nicky's 1st Birthday!!! Praise to God!

With a year behind us, let's think of the joys and accomplishments that we have made...
1. life itself, making it 1 year
2. surviving the NICU for almost 6 months
3. reducing the number of hospital visits in the last 2 months
4. smiling
5. laughing
6. crying
7. learning to eat Dum Dum Pops while focusing on mouth exercises
8. starting to suck small amounts of sterile water and formula from a nipple
9. grabbing toys, playing with toys with a purpose
10. throwing his toys out of the bed and making mommy re-wash them yet again
11. kicking, taking his legs and making scissor action with the mobile toys in the crib
12. sitting in his Boppy pillow and recliner by himself
13. sitting up on his own for a brief moment in time
14. enjoying tummy time on the floor
15. learning to roll over on to his belly with only a little aid from his parents
16. BEING on CPAP almost 24 hours a day
17. BEING on JUST OXYGEN several times a DAY
18. BEING HELD and enjoying it
19. BEING loved by all of his family
20. HAVING 2 new TEETH to call his own !!!!

All in all, it has been a very fast year. Thanks to all the prayers and support that we have gotten. God has truly given us a miracle baby. We can't imagine what he will accomplish in the next year of life.

With that said, funny thing happened this week. Daddy flooded the whole house with water. I had a bridal shower to attend on Sunday, so Alex kept Nicky with him all afternoon. Alex turned on the water in the baby's bathroom to wash a neb cup or something and then went to do a breathing treatment on Nicholas in his room. Of course, he completely forgot about the water. It soaked the upstairs and rained downstairs. There was water coming out of my ceiling fan and light fixtures downstairs....as well as the ceiling falling out of the downstairs and water standing ankle deep.

Needless to say, good thing for insurance. Alex, Nicholas, and I are staying at my mom's. Nicky's first trip out for a mini vacation. We will have contractors in and out, and Nicholas can't be exposed to the dust from the sheet rock or the clean up stages for the carpets. What a deal...huh. At least I am getting a face lift on the house...new paint jobs, new flooring, etc...

Please remember to Thank God of his Goodness Today !!!!

With all our love,
Alex, Terah, and Nicholas
