Update: We are still in the hospital...haha. Nicholas decided that he likes traveling between floors in the hospital. What can I say, he is a little stinker. We have been from the PICU to the Pedi floor, back down to the PICU, and tomorrow will be back on the Pedi floor. Nicholas likes to live on a dare. At this rate, Nicholas will turn out like his father. (note, Alex was a regular in the minor emergency clinics and doctor's offices as a young child and adult) Nicholas seems to be over the virus that he caught at the hospital and then quickly gave to his father, mother, grandfather Hart, grandmother Jenkins, and now grandmother Culp. It seems as though he gave us all a nasty little bug. We have all been living in the bathroom, drinking pepto, and surviving 102 fevers. I was not able to see Nicky for 2 days! However, I marched into his room this morning to see a beautiful smile and laugh. He took a double take to view his mommy and quickly smiled and went back to playing with his toys. The doctors are going to keep an eye on his kidney reflux. At this time, we are not going to do any surgery. We will have several appointments with his kidney specialist as we go. However, one good point, he is not having to take blood thinner shots everyday. His clots are gone!!! He also had a meeting with an ENT today. He scoped his trachea to make sure that no scar tissue is developing where the trach is lying. We are finding it very difficult to stop his giant leak, but because of the leak, Nicholas is passing enough air through his vocal cords to produce lots of baby noises and crying. You can't imagine how joyous it is to hear your baby talk, coo, and cry considering he has a trach in his throat. It is such an Angelic laughter and sound. His voice is so clear and yet so delicate sounding. I think that he enjoys the sounds that he makes. Thank you for the continued prayers and support for Nicholas. Alex, Terah, and Nicholas |
