Hi all !

Sorry to have the website down for a few days. Alex had training at home via the computer and took the network down and directly dialed into his office link. Anyway, it is back up and running at the moment.

Nicholas caught a nasty Roto Virus last week and had to go the ER just over night to be rehydrated. They gave him some IV fluids and sent him home quickly. He was not having any lung problems, and they didn't want him to get or catch anything in the hospital itself. Therefore, he spent the night in the ER and was released the next morning. It was some virus; he had a 102.9 fever for 2 straight days. They could not get the fever to come down past 100.0 even with tylenol. Nicholas felt terrible; it affected his tummy both directions. I have not seen him lose so much fluid. We gave him pedilyte for 4 days until he started retaining the necessary fluids that he needed. The virus ran its course and now he is well.

Nicholas continues to CPAP during the day, and now, we are weaning down his oxygen. Currently, he is not using oxygen during the day. He is still connected to the tubes for CPAP but doesn't require oxygen to be blended in. His O-ring is on order which will allow us just to hook him up to oxygen without the vent. Can you believe that he is doing so well. Dr. Schochet said that bar any major infection, he will not need the vent, tubes, or oxygen in the next two months!!!!! It will be nice to even have the O-ring alone...it would allow us to take him to other rooms in the house.

His therapies continue to go well. Nicholas decided that he wanted to sit all by himself yesterday. The nurse and I watched him bounce his back off the recliner seat and sit upright all by himself. Of course, he couldn't maintain it the whole time, but he is really coming along.

We ask that you keep praying for his lungs. He is working so hard and doing soooooo well.
