Sorry the website has been down for so long, I just now figured out that my router was pointing to the wrong computer so everyone has still been getting the message saying the website is down. Friday, we had a great visit with Dr. Shochet (his pulmonologist) Nick is making great progress on his lungs. Nick is breathing completely on his own with just some supplemental oxygen for 4 hours a day now, and the rest of the day he is on CPAP (see sidebar). Dr. Shochet thinks that we will be able to decannulate him late this summer. Meaning no more trach! Nick is also eating a tiny bit now. Nick ate a tiny bit of rice cereal mixed with grape juice today. (Not my favorite dish, but he likes it) We will gradually increase this as he tolerates it. Nick got to go for his first walk yesterday as the doctor gave us permission to take him outside. I posted a few pictures of the adventure. We are now working on crawling, Nick's legs are strong enough to crawl, but his arms aren't, so right now he pushes his face across the floor, but this still is big progress. Nick is also learning to sit up as well. Terah and I are so very excited to see Nick doing so well. Thank you everyone for your continued prayers and support. We love you! |
