Hello family and friends, Nicholas survived his first day with his mommy, and Nicholas proved to be a GREAT boy. He slept most of the afternoon, so it was a bit quiet in the house. Alex is due to arrive later this evening from his travels...wait til he finds out that he is doing the graveyard shift with Nicholas! (jk) Nicholas seems a bit more healthy today; his lungs are not as junky; however, he is helping the matter by coughing and displacing all the junkies in his lungs. We have had to suction a bit more today. Nicholas met with his PT yesterday as well. She is working on strengthening the leg muscles and working with his right arm (the one that was broken). She is encouraging Nicholas to roll over in the bed which is not an easy duty with tubes that have to follow him along the way. Nicholas has mastered flipping part of his body over especially when he is on his right side...which he hates. He is also receiving a small amount of tummy time. It is difficult to manage large amounts of time on his tummy because his trach tube gets in the way; therefore, we have to stuff his trach and tube into pillows for comfort. Nicholas is also improving in head control and upper body strength. Please continue to keep Nicholas in your prayers. With all our love, Alex, Terah, and Nicholas |
